Welcome to the watchers, the listeners, and most of all, the readers.

Thank you for visiting the literary world of S. Quamme, where theology meets storytelling. Their debut novel, The Book of Yomiel, will be available in early 2026

S. Quamme

S. Quamme is a theological fiction author who is excited to bring traditional stories alive in today’s world. They are currently working toward a master’s degree in Theopoetics and Writing from Bethany Theological Seminary and the Earlham School of Religion. Their areas of focus include Judeo-Christian religions with an emphasis in angelic lore, alternative narratives, and contextual Biblical interpretation. They believe that fiction is vital to our ability to understand the connection between religion and imagination. S. Quamme hopes that their books can showcase niche aspects of Judeo-Christianity that are best explored through a lens of imagination, not religion or belief.

S. Quamme was raised in a Christian cult and is now a practicing Catholic. They live with their partner and three cats in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they enjoy reading, writing, drinking, and engaging in deep conversation with friends. S. Quamme identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.

YOMIEL

6 And they were, in all, two hundred and they came down in the days of Jared, on the summit of Mount Hermon. And they called the mountain Hermon, because on it they swore, and bound one another with curses. 7 And these are the names of their leaders: Shemyaza, who was their leader, Urakiba, Ramshel, Kokabel, Tamiel, Ratsamel, Daniel, Ezeqiel, Barakel, Azazel, Armaros, Batriel, Ananel, Zakiel, Shemshiel, Shahariel, Toniel, Turiel, Yomiel, Zahariel. 8 These are the leaders of the two hundred Angels, and of all the others with them.

-Enoch 6:6-8

The Book of Yomiel bridges the mythic past and the compelling present in a sweeping narrative of rebellion, consequence, and redemption, making lesser-known aspects of Judeo-Christian theology accessible for the modern reader.

This book draws on ancient texts including: the Jewish Apocrypha, the Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Targumic and Rabbinic literature, Medieval Jewish mysticism, Manichaean writings, and Ancient Near Eastern mythology, as well as modern Biblical scholarship and literature by thinkers such as Dr. Loren Stuckenbruck, Dr. Elaine Pagels, and Dr. Michael J. Heiser.

Before angel were revered and demons were feared, there were the watchers, celestial beings charged with observing humanity. But when they crossed the line between duty and desire, they fell. Among them was Yomiel, a watcher whose defiance was not born of lust or pride, but of something far more dangerous: love tainted by grief, and a longing for justice.

Banished from Heaven and bound to Earth, Yomiel becomes both witness and weapon in a world unraveling beneath the weight of forbidden knowledge. With the sins of the watchers weighing heavy on his soul, Yomiel finds himself caught between heaven, hell, and the truth of his own story.
